10 productivity hacks to stay motivated as a burnt-out freelancer
Are you a freelancer who’s feeling like a burnt-out potato chip?
You’re not alone.
Here are my 10 productivity hacks that can help you get back on track and stay motivated.
1. Prioritize Your Tasks: Make a list of everything you need to do and prioritize them in order of importance. Then, tackle the most critical tasks first.
2. Time Blocking: Set aside chunks of time for specific tasks. For example, 9–10 AM for emails, 10–11 AM for project A, and so on. Stick to your schedule and avoid multitasking.
3. Pomodoro Technique: Work for 25 minutes, then take a 5-minute break. Repeat this cycle 4 times and then take a more extended break. This technique can help you focus and increase productivity.
4. Eliminate Distractions: Turn off notifications, close extra browser tabs, and use noise-canceling headphones if you need to. Whatever it takes to stay focused.
5. Get Enough Sleep: Burning the midnight oil is not the answer. Aim for 7–8 hours of sleep each night to recharge your batteries and stay alert during the day.
6. Exercise: Exercise helps reduce stress, increase energy levels, and improve focus. Make sure to schedule some physical activity into your day, even if it’s just a 10-minute walk.
7. Take Breaks: It’s essential to take breaks throughout the day. Get up, stretch, walk around the block, or even take a nap if needed.
8. Find an Accountability Partner: A friend or colleague can help hold you accountable for your goals and provide moral support when you need it.
9. Reward Yourself: Set small rewards for yourself for completing tasks or reaching milestones. It can be anything from a piece of chocolate to a night out with friends.
10. Remember Your “Why”: Finally, don’t forget why you started freelancing in the first place. Revisit your goals and motivations regularly to stay motivated.
Freelancing is a tough gig, but with these productivity hacks, you can beat the burnout and stay motivated.
So, grab that to-do list, take a deep breath, and tackle it one task at a time.
